About Us
Rotary Seva Trust's J. F. Ajmera Rotary Netra Rugnalaya (Charitable), Dharashiv
Rotary Club of Osmanabad (now Dharashiv) was chartered in the year 1989 with a strong commitment to community service and social transformation. During the initial years, the club focused on understanding Rotary ideals and engaging in various social and medical relief activities.
A major turning point came during the 1993 earthquake, when the club provided continuous medical and social services for nearly three months in the affected areas. This dedicated service created a deep bond between the Rotary Club and the local community.
Inspired by the trust and goodwill earned through selfless service, a local farmer generously donated a plot of land to the Rotary Club
This act strengthened the club’s resolve to undertake long-term developmental projects. In 1998, the Rotary Seva Trust was formally established as a registered charitable trust, marking the beginning of structured and large-scale social initiatives.
Vision for Eye Care Services
Through extensive medical camps conducted across rural areas, it became evident that there was a severe lack of eye care facilities in the district. Thousands of patients suffering from cataract and other eye diseases were forced to travel long distances for treatment.
Recognizing this critical need, the Rotary Seva Trust resolved to establish a permanent eye hospital. With collective efforts, member contributions, donations, Rotary Foundation Matching Grants, and Global Grants, the dream became a reality.
Establishment of the Hospital
In 2006, during Rotary’s centenary year, J. F. Ajmera Rotary Netra Rugnalaya was established in Dharashiv. The hospital was named in honor of a generous donor whose contribution played a vital role in making this project possible.
The hospital started with limited resources but strong determination. Over the years, it has grown into a well-equipped, modern eye care center providing high-quality, affordable, and often free eye care services, especially for economically weaker sections.
